Dallas Swing Dance Society

Dancing at DSDS

The Dallas Swing Dance Society hosts the Saturday "Swing on a String" dances.  Each dance starts with an 8pm newcomer lesson and includes DJ or band music through midnight.

Dancers who have conquered the beginner lesson are invited to our mini-workshops at 6:00pm (all-levels), 7:00pm (intermediate), and
8:00pm (advanced). These class series are progressive in nature, so we request that dancers commit to coming to each class in the
month.
Facebook events, and the DSDS emails to see what classes are upcoming! If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask one of
our volunteers.

    Q&A:
    1) Q: Do I have to level test for beginner? A: No beginner is open for everyone!
    2) Q: Will I need to level-test for advanced class every week? A: No, the level testing will only happen on the first set of classes of each month.
    3) Q: I cannot make it to the level testing on the first dance weekend of the month, but I'd like to take an advanced class on the second and third dances of the month. Is there a way I can level test separately? A: Pleas message us on facebook so if we can see if a level-testing instructor can make additional time; however this is not guaranteed and we highly encourage you to make the standard level-testing time.
    4) Q: At what time should I be ready to level test? A: The registration desk will close for advanced classes at 6:25pm. Level testing will begin in Kurth (on the fourth floor) at 6:30pm.

Other fun swing dance venues in DFW:

The Sons of Hermann dance is every Wednesday at 8PM.  This dance takes place in Deep Ellum and follows a similar format to DSDS.  The Intermediate "Beginner Plus" lesson is at 8PM, at the same time as the newcomer lesson (in the old bowling alley downstairs).  The dance then runs through midnight.  There's also a Karaoke DJ in the bar, so on their website it's called "Sing and Swing."

There are two different swing dance groups in Fort Worth: SSPH on Tuesdays and FWSDS on Thursdays. Please click on their respective website links for more information.

The only Dallas dance studio offering Lindy Hop is The Rhythm Room. Their swing dance lessons are generally held on Mondays and Wednesdays, though there can be events on other days, too. The Rhythm Room is on Lower Greenville Ave, and is an excellent way to learn Swing Dancing with dance studio style progressive classes.

Denton Swing and the Longview Swing Dance Soceiety (LSDA) host events in their respective areas.
